Membrane Switch Designing With Use Of Graphics

SYMBOLS

Symbols are useful and effective devices for quickly conveying meaning. Please furnish your symbol nomenclature artwork actual size, ready for compositing or scanning for reproduction. This will allow quick and accurate reproduction. Your logo and trademarks should be furnished the same way. Electronic transfer of graphic information is desirable.

OUTLINES

The maximum line width for outlines is .120", minimum is .030". Avoid outlines around cutouts and board edges.

COLORS

Monopanel utilizes the standard Pantone color system. We can also match special corporate colors. Should you need a unique color, please contact your Monopanel sales engineer regarding your specific requirements. For optimum graphic appeal, frame lighter colors with contrasting darker colors.

TYPE

The utility and attractiveness of Monopanel touch switches can be enhanced by the proper selection and application of nomenclature. Monopanel offers seven commonly used industrial type faces. They are available in sizes from 8 point to 38 point in .1 point increments. The following guidelines have been prepared to aid you in the selection of a type face.
Type guidelines
  1. Keep to even type points for consistent repeatability
  2. Use one type face for a neater appearance, Two faces provide separation of alpha and numeric characters
  3. Alpha-numeric symbols other than those shown may require an additional type face or custom design layout
  4. Where space is limited, consider a condensed type face
  5. Foreign language requirements can often be met using Helvetica Medium.

COMPARISON OF RIGID AND FILM BASE CONSTRUCTION

PARAMETER

RIGID BASE

FILM BASE

Typically utilizes a printed circuit board
(pc board) to support switch circuitry,
mounting hardware, sub-assemblies,
and any electronic components.

Consists of flexible film layers
that will provide a thinner overall package
thickness.

Self supporting

Requires backer plate or rigid
mounting base.
